Phân bố loài B. gabonica (màu đen)[2]

Loài rắn này có thể tìm được tại Guinea, Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Cameroon, Guinea xích đạo, Gabon, cộng hòa Congo, DR Congo, miền bắc Angola, cộng hòa Trung Phi, nam Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, miền đông Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, miền đông Zimbabwe, Mozambique, và đông bắc tỉnh KwaZulu-Natal tại Nam Phi. Mallow et al. (2003) cũng liệt kê Sierra Leone và Liberia tại Tây Phi.[3] Địa điểm lấy mẫu chuẩn được cho là "Gabon" (châu Phi).[1]
